14-fret Shop built Size-2 parlor in X-braced spruce over mahogany, 1 3/4” nut, 2 1/4” string spacing, great all around player
The Martin Size 2 body continues to be the most requested parlor form over any other in the shop. This time I chose a 14-fret solid mahogany neck to partner up with a solid spruce topped parlor. At just over 12” lower bout, it defies its size with a handsome amount of volume and projection. A sweet all around player that can handle many styles of play.
SPECS: Size 2 body, 14-fret mahogany neck with solid headstock, bound X-braced spruce top over mahogany sides and back, Golden Age tuning machines, steel reinforced neck with “C” profile, rosewood fretboard with new frets, MOP diamond shaped fret markers, rosewood pyramid bridge, bone pins, bone nut and saddle. Nut width: 1 3/4”, String Spacing: 2 1/4“, Scale length: 25.4”, Upper bout: 8 1/2“, Lower Bout: 12 1/8”, Body length: 18 1/4”, Widest body depth: 4 1/8”, Overall length: 38 3/4”, Neck thickness at 1st fret: 7/8”, Neck thickness at 5th fret: 7/8”, Action: 1/8”, string gauge setup: custom lights 52-11 gauge standard tuning.
CONDITION: Shop built from repurposed materials, which show age, scuffs, bumps and bruises. Prior strap pin filled.
SOUND: Longer and deeper body than most parlors, Size 2 wins in the best category for tone coming out of such a small box. Full, robust tone can be achieved with a flatpack or strummed and this guitar doesn’t mind bare fingerstyle either.
