Slingerland made fine guitars back in the day. They were comparable in quality to any all-birch Regal, Richter or Supertone made before WWII. This example was found in exceptional aesthetic condition, which only added to its appeal as a rebuild candidate. In the end, the rebuild delivered a fine sounding, fingerstyle-friendly vintage parlor guitar ready to take on the best 70s folk song set you can throw at it. Wonderful example to see, play and hear.

SPECS: 0-size body, 12-fret neck with slotted headstock, ladder-braced solid birch top, sides and back in original finish and headstock overlay, bound top and sound hole, poplar neck with adjustable truss rod, vintage tuning machines with opposing gear plates, full “C” neck profile, new radius’d fretboard with new frets, new rosewood bridge, MOP inlays, ebony nut and pins, bone saddle. Nut width: whisker shy of 1 3/4”, String Spacing: 2 1/4”, Scale length: 24”, Upper bout: 9 5/8”, Lower Bout: 13 1/8”, Body length: 18”, Widest body depth: 4”, Overall length: 36 7/8”, Neck thickness at 1st fret: 7/8“, Neck thickness at 5th fret: 1”, Action: 3/32”, string gauge setup: D’addario EJ26 custom light gauge in standard tuning.

CONDITION: Back-off rebuild with upgraded top bracing to accommodate modern steel strings. Other work included neckset with added truss rod, rosewood bridge, radius’d fretboard/frets, as found factory finish, setup. Please note that vintage, repurposed materials and finishes will have underlying swirls, scrapes, scratches, bumps and bruises. Any new features added during the rebuild were made to fit in with the old.
