I acquired some Martin body molds some time ago to expand my offerings of parlors to include different body styles. The Size 2 version has become the most popular with parlor-playing customers. This example raises the bar on tone and projection for a parlor with only a 12” lower bout. Just plain fantastic!
SPECS: Size-2 body, 12-fret neck, X- braced solid adi spruce over solid e.i. rosewood, slotted headstock with Golden Age tuning machines, steel reinforced mahogany neck with “C” profile, new ebony fretboard and frets, new ebony bridge with bone saddle and ebony pins, 1 3/4” nut, 2 3/8” string spacing, 24.9” scale, 8 1/2” upper bout, 12” lower bout, 18 1/4” body, 37 1/8” overall length, 4” depth, 7/8” neck depth at the 1st fret, 7/8” neck depth at the 5th fret, action 1/8” Setup/braced for 52-11 D’addario custom light strings (EJ26).
CONDITION: Lightly finished in clear nitro lacquer, it appears simple and unadorned. Aside from some scuffs and bumps on repurposed woods, this is one solid guitar.
SOUND: The longer Size-2 body combined with the 4” body depth puts out some real nice music. It rings with a light touch but holds on well when digging in. Sweetness all over.
