1968 Gibson F-25 Folksinger 00-size, 12-fret in x-braced spruce over mahogany, fingerstyle delight, classic Gibson tone

052814L

The Gibson Folksinger model is truly a fingerstyle players' delight. Wide string spacing at the nut along with the 12-fret neck opens up the lower registers to where fretting is a breeze. Without the typical double white pickguards and belly-up bridge, this model was discontinued shortly after this example was made. Well made, well played and rock solid. Ships in new fitted HSC.

SPECS: 00-size, body, 12-fret neck, solid x-braced spruce top over solid mahogany sides and back in original natural lacquer, paddle headstock with Golden Age tuning machines, flat oval profile neck, brazilian rosewood fretboard with original frets, original rosewood bridge and nut, new bone saddle. Nut width: 2", String Spacing: 2 1/4", Scale length: 24.5", Upper bout: 11", Lower Bout: 14 1/4", Body length: 18 5/8", Widest body depth: 4 3/8", Overall length: 38 1/2" , Neck thickness at 1st fret: 3/4", Neck thickness at 5th fret: 7/8", Action: 1/8", String gauge setup: 53-12s.

CONDITION: This is a solid, crack-free example that shows lots of surface and finish wear. There's some very minor fret wear in the first three positions but otherwise the frets looks great. The original saddle slot was plugged with rosewood to match the bridge and a new saddle slot was routed to achieve the best intonation. Adjustable truss rod affords neck relief, a feature many vintage flat tops do not have. All broken-in and ready for another 50 years of play.

SOUND: This guitar loves to be played. It would seem designed for fingerstyle but shines with a flatpick as well. Tone is robust and warm. The neck is wide but not deep. String spacing allows note separation better than most guitars on the market. No longer in production, this is a real Gibson original.

PRICE: $1600
