I don’t generally veer too far from established design norms on a small body build but decided to throw fate to the wind on this beauty. This Martin-inspired 12-fret delivers the classic body proportions and styling so recognizable to pre-war design lovers, but on steroids. Particularly, the extra body depth exceeded tonal expectations and the neck depth and profile are not for the faint of heart. Huge sound for bid hands pretty much sums it up.

SPECS: 00-size body, 12-fret neck with slotted headstock, X-braced solid spruce top in aged lacquer finish, solid East Indian rosewood sides and back in aged lacquer finish, solid mahogany neck, Golden Age tuning machines w/ cream buttons, full “C” neck profile, new ebony fretboard, modern adjustable truss rod, new medium frets, new ebony bridge with compensated saddle slot, repurposed bone nut, saddle and pins, new MOP inlays. Nut width: 1 13/16”, String Spacing: 2 5/16”, Scale length: 25”, Upper bout: 9 3/4”, Lower Bout: 14 3/16”, Body length: 19 3/8”, Widest body depth: 5”, Overall length: 38 1/2”, Neck thickness at 1st fret: 7/8“, Neck thickness at 5th fret: 1”, Action: 3/32”, string gauge setup: 10-52 D’Addario Custom Light PB in standard tuning.

CONDITION: Shopbuilt using Martin 00-body mold and Martin factory neck. Please note that vintage, repurposed materials will have underlying swirls, scrapes, scratches, bumps and bruises. Any new features added during the rebuild were made to fit in with the old.

SOUND: Ah, the tone…deep, rich, full with ample sustain. The extra body depth, the same as the Taylor Grand Orchestra BTW, really makes a difference. Fingerstyle and light strumming are home runs with this guitar. Extra heavy-handed attacks, resulting in overdriven chaos, are not home runs.

PRICE: $2,199
