“Time capsule condition” has become somewhat of a cliche in the vernacular of guitar condition reports but I have to say, this guitar was bought on a Monday sometime in the early 1970s and stored in its case from that day forward until I bought it. I’ve paired the appropriate string set with the materials and the geometry of the guitar as it was originally built. It looks great, plays easy and sounds sweet.

SPECS: 0-size body, 12-fret neck with slotted headstock, ladder-braced birch top in original finish, birch sides and back in original finish, poplar neck, original tuning machines w/ cream buttons, full “D” neck profile, original dyed poplar fretboard with original brass frets, original nut, modified pinless bridge with bone saddle, original inlays. Nut width: 1 3/4”, String Spacing: 2 1/4”, Scale length: 24”, Upper bout: 9 1/2”, Lower Bout: 13 1/4”, Body length: 17 5/8”, Widest body depth: 3 3/4”, Overall length: 36 1/4”, Neck thickness at 1st fret: 13/16“, Neck thickness at 5th fret: 7/8”, Action: 3/32”, string gauge setup: 11-47 NEwtone Heritage round core low tension in standard tuning.

CONDITION: Solid original condition except conversion to slotted bone saddle for better intonation. Please note that vintage, repurposed materials will have underlying swirls, scrapes, scratches, bumps and bruises. Any new features added during the rebuild were made to fit in with the old.

SOUND: The tone, as evidenced by the video soundclip, is quite conducive for bare fingerstyle play. Low tension round core in extra light gauge is a good fit for this configuration. Anything heavier would not be a good fit.

PRICE: $499
