Pre-war "Bluesman" parlor-size, 12-fret in solid spruce/solid cherry with 1 13/16" nut, soft "V" neck and amazing bluesy tone

113014V

I don't often come across a vintage parlor with cherry sides and back but I hope that changes! This little guitar really presses my blues buttons. It has a raunchy twang that I don't hear very often. The original ladder braced spruce top surely contributes to this but the whole package: tailpiece/floating bridge/12-fret neck and 70 year old woods delivers a nice look, feel and sound.

SPECS: 0-size, body, 12-fret neck, ladder-braced spruce top over cherry sides and back, slotted headstock with original geared machines, poplar neck with "V" neck profile, new radius'd rosewood fretboard with new frets, rosewood bridge, bone nut and saddle. Nut width: 1 13/16", String Spacing: 2 3/8", Scale length: 24", Upper bout: 9 1/4", Lower Bout: 12 1/2", Body length: 18", Widest body depth: 3 5/8", Overall length: 37" , Neck thickness at 1st fret: 7/8", Neck thickness at 5th fret: 1" , Action: 1/8", string gauge setup: 52-11s

CONDITION: One small side crack was sealed and cleated. Side reinforcement added to both sides. Old back cleats are visible but no cracks can be seen from the outside. Top is crack-free. 1/2" steel reinforcing rod installed in neck. Side and back lacquer finish is funky with scuffs, blotches and mars that really look the part. Work performed included neckset and repairs to braces, seams, bridge, bridgeplate, frets, touchups and setup.

SOUND: I'm not one to repeat myself over and over but this is a real nice little blues guitar. Exceptionally sassy and loud with a flatpick or thumbpick.
