Shop built 000-size 12-fret in X-braced spruce/mahogany, 1 3/4” nut, 2 1/2” string spacing, deep, rich old Martin-esque tone
I don’t offer many acoustics larger than 00-size but I’m happy to have made an exception in this case. This guitar was composed of repurposed materials, understated in appearance and not offering any clue of how it sounds. Well, it sounds deep and rich and full like an old Martin might sound. If you’re into guitars that lean toward the bass-y side of the sound spectrum, this gal might be worth considering.
SPECS: 000-size body, 12-fret neck with slotted headstock, X-braced solid spruce top in natural finish, mahogany sides and back in dark tobacco lacquer finish, mahogany neck with adjustable truss rod added, MOP fretboard inlays, Golden Age tuning machines, oval neck profile, rosewood fretboard with new frets, new ebony bridge, cream binding on top, back and sound hole, simple strap pins top and bottom, bone nut with unbleached bone saddle and pins. Nut width: hair over 1 3/4”, String Spacing: 2 1/2”, Scale length: 25.4”, Upper bout: 11”, Lower Bout: 15”, Body length: 20 1/2”, Widest body depth: 4”, Overall length: 40”, Neck thickness at 1st fret: 3/4“, Neck thickness at 5th fret: 7/8”, Action: 1/8”, string gauge setup: D’addario EJ26 custom light gauge in standard tuning.
CONDITION: Solid rebuilt condition using re-purposed materials. Upgraded bracing and bridge plate to accommodate modern steel strings. Repurposed woods and vintage surfaces may have underlying scrapes and scratches, bumps and bruises.
SOUND: Full and rich tone with nice projection. The 2 1/2” string spacing at the saddle screams “fingerstyle” but honestly this plays well in most any style. Setup can be adjusted to suit your playing style and most any alternate tunings.
