Fabulous vintage Size 5 terz in X-braced cedar over solid birch, 1 3/4”+ nut, 2 3/8” string spacing, size-defying tone with “big guitar” features
This is the terz size acoustic that many players dream of … small in size, large in tone, and with generous string spacing at the nut and saddle. Tuned G-G with extra lights or mediums in standard tuning, it’s a versatile fingerstyle, flat picker or strummer. The 33” overall length makes it a great travel companion and the 12” lower bout feels comfortable in any playing position. The sound hole is large enough to handle most sound hole pickups and the price is both fair and reasonable.
SPECS: terz-size body, 12-fret neck with paddle headstock, popular neck with fixed steel reinforcement, X-braced solid cedar top in natural finish, solid birch sides and back in tobacco brown finish, bound sound hole, vintage tuning machines, “C” neck profile, bound ebony fretboard with new frets, MOP markers, rosewood pyramid bridge, ebony pins, bone nut and saddle. Nut width: sits right between 1 3/4” and 1 13/16”, String Spacing: 2 3/8“, Scale length: 21.5”, Upper bout: 8 7/8“, Lower Bout: 12”, Body length: 15 1/2”, Widest body depth: 3 5/8”, Overall length: 33 1/4”, Neck thickness at 1st fret: 7/8”, Neck thickness at 5th fret: 15/16”, Action: 3/32”, string gauge setup: D’addario extra light gauge in G-G tuning or medium gauge in standard tuning.
CONDITION: Solid rebuilt condition with no issues. Three back hairlines repaired, one top hairline repaired. Body has scuffs, crazing, and edge wear. Other work included cedar top, neckset, new fretboard/frets, bridge and setup.
SOUND: Projection, volume and sustain are way above average. Another feature of this example is the relative “deep body” (albeit 3 5/8”) for a terz size guitar, which must add to the richness of tone for such a small box. Ample string spacing and rounded-edge fretboard really tops off the playing experience.
