Early Kamico "L" style roundhole archtop 00- size, 14-fret in solid mahogany/solid maple, fabulous blues fun

This guitar is one of the most fun to play here in the shop. It originated as a typical 00-body with maple woods all around. I replaced the cracked top and back with solid mahogany and configured the bracing for an archtop setup. Before reassembling the body, I elongated the body shape to resemble the old Gibson "L" series archtops. It not only looks cool but it's fun to play and sounds great for old time and American blues tunes.

SPECS: 00-size, body, 14-fret neck, lattice-braced solid mahogany top over solid mahogany back and maple rim in natural lacquer finish, paddle headstock with vintage tuning machines, chunky soft "V" neck profile, ebonized maple fretboard with original frets, new rosewood archtop bridge, original nut, new bone saddle. Nut width: 1 13/16", String Spacing: 2 1/4", Scale length: 25.5", Upper bout: 11", Lower Bout: 14 3/4", Body length: 19", Widest body depth: 3 3/4", Overall length: 40" , Neck thickness at 1st fret: 7/8", Neck thickness at 5th fret: 1", Action: 3/16", String gauge setup: 53-12s.

CONDITION: This guitar was taken down to the bare bones and rebuilt using some original and some repurposed woods. It's crack-free, super solid with no repairs needed. There's some scuffing to and around the fretboard. The adjustable bridge permits changes to the string height and the radius'd fretboard is friendly to both fingering and chording.

SOUND: Fine strummer and flatpicker, it pushes out a woody mahogany tone with generous volume but with quick decay. I see this guitar shining as a blues guitar, for Woody Guthrie tunes and definitely some old cowboy songs. Truly a great, old time music guitar.
