Early Kay 000-, 14-fret in x-braced spruce over birch, warm tone, great look, real fun guitar

052814D

I believe this to an early Kay-made Kamico brand with it's look-a-like Gibson L-series body and 14-fret neck. This guitar is really fun to play. String spacing at the nut and saddle favor fingerstylers but it strums like a champ and is unbelievably loud with a flatpick. I have two examples of this model in stock this time around. Unusual find in fine condition.

SPECS: 000-size, body, 14-fret neck, x-braced spruce topÊover birch sides and back in natural lacquer, paddle headstock with original tuning machines, chunky soft "V" neck profile, rosewood Êfretboard with new frets, ebony bridge and ebonyÊbridge pins, bone nut and saddle. Nut width: 1 13/16", String Spacing: 2 3/16", Scale length: 25.4", ÊUpper bout: 11", ÊLower Bout: 15", Body length: 18 3/4", Widest body depth: 3 9/16", OverallÊlength: 38 3/4" , Neck thickness at 1st fret: 7/8", Neck thickness at 5th fret: 1", Action: 1/8", String gauge setup: 53-12s

CONDITION: This guitar was originally configured with a tailpiece and floating bridge. The vintage burst finish is set off nicely by the cream binding and soundhole trim. A few bumps and bruises but no cracks or other repairs. Work performed included neckset and repairs toÊbraces, seams, bridge, bridgeplate, new rosewood radius'd board and frets, touchups and setup.

SOUND: Ladder bracing was converted to x-bracing and resulting tone is HUGE. This is a fingerstyle guitar in a flatpick guitar's body. Playability is a dream. Great tone for just about any style of play.
