Shopbuilt United/Orphan blend in X-braced spruce/mahogany, 1 7/8” nut, 2 3/8” string spacing, sounds and plays great, big hands take notice

I am a softy when it comes to rescuing the down-on-your-luck among us. I came across these two orphans scattered about at opposite ends of the shop and found that they would make a good match, together. The neck is from an old United-made parlor and the body is neither new nor old and hails from God knows where, but the match is a good one, for both parties. Best sounding solid wood guitar for the money AND no prenuptial agreement to mess with down the road.

SPECS: 0-size body, 12-fret neck with slotted headstock, X-braced solid spruce book matched top natural finish, sides and back in natural mahogany finish, top and back binding, mahogany neck with steel neck reinforcement added, mid-century tuning machines, chunky “D” neck profile, new radius’d rosewood fretboard with new frets, MOP markers, ebony bridge, bone nut and saddle, ebony pins. Nut width: 1 7/8”, String Spacing: 2 3/8“, Scale length: 25.25”, Upper bout: 9 5/8“, Lower Bout: 13 5/8”, Body length: 19”, Widest body depth: 4 1/8”, Overall length: 38 1/4”, Neck thickness at 1st fret: 7/8”, Neck thickness at 5th fret: 15/16”, Action: 1/8”, string gauge setup: D’addario EJ16 light gauge in standard tuning.

CONDITION: Solid rebuilt condition. Insane string spacing at the nut and saddle. Some finishes imperfections and capo marks. Paper label residue inside. Any repurposed woods may have faint underlying scrapes and scratches, bumps and bruises.

SOUND: Nice, full sound with ample sustain. Plays well with either bare fingers, flatpack and light strumming. Action can be adjusted to suit your playing style but know in advance that this neck profile is downright chunky.
