Pre-war "True Parlor” 12-fret in X-braced spruce/mahogany, 1 3/4” nut, 2 5/16” string spacing, great fingerstyle player with a robust voice
Likely built in the early 1930s, this “no name” parlor guitar has features that are characteristic of a handful of factories from the Golden Age of acoustic guitar making. Completely rebuilt for the modern finger stylist, playability is excellent and very comfortable with a low oval-ish neck profile. The tone coming out of the sound hole is what puts a smile on my face. Perfect for songwriting, recording or just hanging around the house.
SPECS: Parlor-size body, 12-fret neck with slotted headstock, X-braced book matched spruce top in aged finish, reinforced mahogany sides and rejoined mahogany back in opaque red mahogany finish, maple neck in black lacquer finish, adjustable truss rod reinforcement added, MOP fretboard inlays with corresponding white side dots, Golden Age tuning machines, low oval neck profile, radius’d rosewood fretboard with new frets, new ebony bridge, black binding top, back and sound hole, unbleached bone nut, saddle and pins. Nut width: 1 3/4”, String Spacing: 2 5/16”, Scale length: 25”, Upper bout: 8 1/2”, Lower Bout: 12”, Body length: 18”, Widest body depth: 3 5/16”, Overall length: 38”, Neck thickness at 1st fret: 3/4“, Neck thickness at 5th fret: 7/8”, Action: 3/32” - 1/8” to customer choice, string gauge setup: D’addario EJ16 light gauge in standard tuning.
CONDITION: Solid rebuilt condition with upgraded bracing and bridge plate to accommodate modern steel strings. Top was thickness'd, sides reinforced and back rejoined with ebony center strip, neck block reinforced, new mahogany linings and maple headstock overlay were added. Evidence of old capo marks and prior bridge placement. Other work included neckset, updated bracing, bridge, setup. Please note that repurposed woods and vintage surfaces will have underlying swirls, scrapes, scratches, bumps and bruises.
SOUND: Full and resonant tone with a nice punch. Its voice is definitely robust for a guitar this size. Really shines as a fingerstyle guitar but the setup can be adjusted, within reason, to suit your playing style and most alternate tunings.
